We are now offering our customers an innovative solution for detection AI-generated texts. With our new AI detection technology, it is possible to determine for each paragraph of a text whether it was created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

With this new function, we offer you a further, precise tool for checking the authenticity of texts and making the use of AI-generated content transparent and traceable. Rely on our advanced technology to reliably detect AI-based content - for more quality and honesty in education!

Testing Phase

AI detection can be tested until the end of February 2025 with any valid Docoloc license at no additional cost. After this testing period, this function can be added to your institution's license. For more information on the costs of our AI detection from March 2025, please contact our support team.

How does AI detection work?

Texts generated by generative AI have certain statistical properties that can be used to detect such texts. For each paragraph of a text, our AI detection analyses these properties and thus determines the probability that this paragraph was created with the help of AI tools. If this probability is above a defined threshold value, it can be assumed that the paragraph in question was created with the help of artificial intelligence. We rely on scientifically sound methods that enable the reliable identification of AI content while minimizing the number of false positives (i.e. the incorrect recognition of human-written texts as texts generated by AI).

However, false-positive results cannot be completely avoided. We have designed the AI detection for common normal texts. In particular, text sections with many repetitions, such as enumerations, tables or lists, but also poems, may be incorrectly marked as AI content. While the plagiarism search provides verifiable proof of text similarity by specifying reference documents in the Docoloc report, such proof does not exist for AI detection. It is therefore important to view the results of our AI detection in the context of the entire document. Each section marked as AI-generated should therefore be viewed critically and checked individually. As with the results of the plagiarism search, the results of the AI detection must always be evaluated by the reviewers.

The Docoloc report with AI detection

The substructure of our Docoloc report had to be extensively revised for AI detection. These adjustments lead to an even better text analysis and thus also help to find matches in other documents. These changes mainly ensure that we have been able to integrate efficient and accurate AI detection into the Docoloc report, while retaining the usual ease of handling and use of our report.
